What is Nociceptive Pain?

Nociceptive pain is the type of pain caused by injury or damage to tissue, such as a burn or a cut. It is typically described as a sharp or aching pain and is mediated by specialized nerve fibres called nociceptors. These fibres send signals to the brain indicating that the body has been damaged, leading to the sensation of pain.

Nociceptive pain can be acute or chronic, depending on the underlying cause and duration of the injury or damage. Acute nociceptive pain is typically short-lived, while chronic nociceptive pain can persist for months or even years.

Chronic nociceptive pain is the same as Chronic Secondary Pain.
