About Us

Our Story

We are a community of individuals who share a common goal: to promote patient-centred and evidence-based approaches to pain management. Our mission is to advocate and educate on behalf of people living with chronic pain, particularly those who live with severe, daily pain and rely on opioid medications as a key component of their treatment plan.

As a patient-led organization, we understand firsthand the challenges and stigma associated with chronic pain. Despite the overwhelming evidence supporting the use of opioids for severe chronic pain, these medications have been unfairly demonized in recent years. This has resulted in a public health crisis, with many patients being forced to taper off effective treatments or being denied access to appropriate care altogether.

We are committed to changing this narrative. We believe that all individuals living with chronic pain deserve access to safe, effective, and compassionate care. To this end, we engage in a range of activities designed to promote awareness, education, and policy change.

We are driven by the EVIDENCE

Our advocacy efforts include:

  • Raising public awareness about the realities of chronic pain: We work to counter the myths and misinformation surrounding opioid medications and chronic pain. By sharing our personal stories and experiences, we aim to promote empathy and understanding among the broader public.
  • Advocating for patient-centered policies and practices: We engage with policymakers, healthcare providers, and insurers to promote policies that prioritize patient autonomy, safety, and quality of life. This includes advocating for increased access to non-opioid pain treatments and allied health services, such as physical therapy and behavioral health support.
  • Educating healthcare providers and the public about evidence-based pain management: We provide educational resources and support for healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers. This includes workshops, webinars, and informational materials that promote best practices in pain management.
  • Providing peer support and community building: We offer a range of opportunities for individuals living with chronic pain to connect, share resources, and offer mutual support. This includes online support groups, social events, and advocacy campaigns.

At our advocacy group, we believe that all individuals living with chronic pain deserve to be heard, supported, and empowered. Whether you are a patient, caregiver, healthcare provider, or concerned community member, we invite you to join us in our mission to promote patient-centered and evidence-based approaches to pain management.
